Raise Your Standards - Reclaim Your Life

by Coach T.C. Coleman

Sunday Inspiration #7

Today’s thought … Raise Your Standards

When you raise your standards to reflect your needs and values, the universe will line up behind your boundaries.

Today’s Coaching Exercise

Spend 5 or so minutes identifying 3 areas in your professional life where you need to raise your standards and log this information in your journal.   Now, spend 10 or so minutes creating a plan of action for raising your personal standards in these areas.  This may mean making a firm decision not to work on Sundays before 2PM so you can attend religious services (this is an example from my days as a law firm associate …) and making this decision clear to your team, law partners and clients.   Or, it could involve letting your team or law partners know that your blackberry is off between 6:30PM and 8:00PM so you can enjoy dinner with your significant other or put your kids to bed.

When you define your boundaries and make it clear how they will not affect your work, you will be amazed at the change in your stress level and increased fulfillment at work and home.

Until next time … Take GREAT Care!

Awareness as the Catalyst

by Coach T.C. Coleman

Sunday Inspiration #5

Today’s Thought … Awareness:  Awareness is the first step toward sustainable growth and development.

A Short Coaching Exercise

Spend time listing a couple of problematic areas in your career that you have been stepping over or pushing aside.  Now, spend 5 to 10 minutes (longer if necessary) considering the root cause of the problems.   This is called creating greater awareness.

What can be learned or gained from your awareness?  Record your thoughts (in great detail) in your journal.

Now … create a plan of action (consisting of several small concrete steps) for resolving these problematic areas and moving forward to accelerated success in 2008!  Let us know if we can support you in creating a plan of action and  structure that helps you move from awareness to action!

We look forward to a most blessed and prosperous 2008 for us all!

Happy New Year!

Until next year :-)  … Take GREAT Care!

Your Authentic Self - Finding YOUR FIT

by Coach T.C. Coleman

Sunday Inspiration #4

  highHealedShoes

Today’s Thought … Be Yourself

If you do not wear shoes shaped like feet, eventually your feet will be shaped like your shoes.  (Based on a quote referenced by Thomas Leonard).

This Week’s Coaching Exercise

men shoes

Spend time thinking about ways that you can incorporate your authentic self (e.g., your values, needs, wants and desires) into your professional life.   List 1 to 3 things you will commit to incorporating into your life this week.

After you have completed the steps above, spend 5 to 10 minutes thinking about how you will feel after you have incorporated these things into your life.   Record your feelings in your journal in great detail.   As with all of our journaling assignments, the more detail the better.    Now, take the action necessary to become more authentic in your professional life.   Baby steps are fine for now …  just get moving!

Until next time … Take GREAT Care!
